Books to Read While Quarantined ✨

Mar 30

Hi my babes!!! If you’re feeling a bit bored or lost during this quarantine I feel for you.. while I personally rarely (if ever) feel bored (sorry not to be annoying but I have just always been like this – I somehow always keep myself busy! lol) I was definitely feeling a bit lost as far as how to spend/organize my time… which PS: if that’s you you need to read my WFH Tips Blog Post ASAP! Either way I feel for you. I GET IT! You’re used to being at work all day and have been for years and now suddenly you’re housebound, unable to work and bored out of your mind… I can understand how strange it must feel to have all this time and be out of practice when it comes to hobbies and self-care. But I want to change that for you because while there are absolutely devastating things happening in our world, so long as we are safe and healthy we have much to be grateful for.. and if you are safe and healthy this time you have been given can actually be a super special opportunity for you to grow, expand, become more self-reliant and ultimately build a deeper connection with yourself. In an effort to rid you of boredom I’m sharing my list of 8 books to read while quarantined 😊 This list of books to read while quarantined is for my fellow pink loving spiritual boss babes… plus 1 wild card book thrown in that is just honestly a really riveting read 😉

✨8 Books to Read While Quarantined✨

1. Star Power by Vanessa Montgomery

This ones for my #SPIRITUALBABES // Have you ever had your birth chart read? It’s pretty insane. If you’re keen to learn more about astrology and deep dive into what make you YOU you’re going to want to add this little modern mystical handbook to your books to read while quarantined list. Star Power by Vanessa Montgomery is a super simple to understand guide to astrology 💫 Through easy-to-follow chapters, it breaks down all you need to know in order to read your own astrological chart, from the movement and meaning of the planets to understanding what your birth chart reveals about you – which I LOVE! It will show you how to make sense of the houses and aspects, allow you to track future planetary shifts and explain how these can help you know more about yourself, your life and your future self. You’ll find out which start sign you’re compatible with, how the universe impacts your approach to love, wealth, creativity and careers, and ultimately learn to take cosmic control of your universe. If you’ve got some time on your hands and your into this kind of stuff I HIGHLY suggest going to Cafe Astrology to download your natal birth chart ( it’s free!) that way you can have it on hand while you read through Star Power! Cafe Astrology gives you a pretty solid breakdown of your birth chart but I love the way Star Power approaches astrology so I’d go for the birth chart, skip the breakdown and dive right into Star Power! This would make for a really fun evening of self-exploration ✨

2. High Achiever by Tiffany Jenkins

If you are triggered by drug abuse please skip to the next book rec 💕

OK… this is the wild card book I mentioned earlier… Don’t judge me but I am obsessed with books on addiction.. I don’t know why but I find it incredibly interesting and out of all the twisted books I’ve read this was by far my favorite. I could not put this book down. I’m serious.. I got it on a whim while I was hanging out with my mom (I always drag her into Barnes & Noble with me LOL) I usually go for self-development/spiritual books but I was like OMG I NEED A BREAK FROM EXPANSION I WANT SOMETHING FUN TO READ.. so I grabbed this one with zero exceptions. After we bought our loot of books we sat down in some comfy chairs in the store to look through our books before we were going to head to dinner and I was completely sucked in to the story by page 3. I’m not kidding you, I was like a nerdy 12 year old at the dinner table with my mom holding the book UNDER THE TABLE TO KEEP READING… I’m actually laughing at myself writing this but serious, it was that good!! I finished it in less than 3 days. No wonder it’s a national best seller. High Achiever is an up-close portrait of the mind of an addict and a life unraveled by narcotics – a memoir of captivating urgency and surprising humor that puts a human face on the opioid crisis.

“A raw and twisty, pause resisting memoir that sounds like fiction, High Achiever spans Tiffany’s life as an active opioid addict, her 120 days in a Florida jail where every officer despised what she’d done to their brother in blue, and her eventual recovery. With heart-racing urgency and unflinching honesty, Jenkins takes you inside the grips of addiction and the desperate decisions it breeds. She is a born storyteller who lived an incredible story, from blackmail by an ex-boyfriend to a soul-shattering deal with a drug dealer, and her telling brims with suspense and unexpected wit. But the true surprise is her path to recovery. Tiffany breaks through the stigma and silence to offer hope and inspiration to anyone battling the disease – whether it’s a loved one or themselves.”

Honestly, just reading the description makes me want to read it all over again, I think I just might 😉

7. Material Girl, Mystical Girl by Ruby Warrington

This ones for my #SPIRITUALBABES // Material Girl, Mystical World is a “Now Age Guide to a High-Vibe Life Inspired by the consciousness-shifting traditions that have moved seekers for generations” – basically, if you’re on a spiritual path but also don’t want to feel guilty for liking nice things – this is for you 😂 I honestly enjoyed it because like the true Taurus that I am, I LIKE NICE THINGS AND WANT TO LIVE A COMFORTABLE LIFE.. can we stop feeling guilty for that please?? I’m so over that! You can 100000% lead a spiritual life AND also value/enjoy the finer things; the 2 can coexist.. and this book does a beautiful job at merging the 2. Material Girl, Mystical World encourages you to discover your own path to personal enlightenment in every area of your life, from love, sex, and relationships, to fashion, beauty, health, and wellness. The books underlying message reveals to us that it is within our power, right now, to create a life that is both meaningful and fabulous – while also contributing to a major shift in global consciousness 💫

“In WorkParty Jaclyn shows how she turned distrust into determination, frustration into fuel, and heartache into hard work—and how you can, too.
